In this series of five Leaders and Teachers RE lessons for Year 2, children will consider the roles and responsibilities of leaders both in school and their local community. Teach your class all about religious leaders in their communities, and those written about in religious texts, with colourful slides and engaging activities!

Each 'Leaders and Teachers' lesson includes everything you need to teach Key Stage 1 children about the role of religious leaders in communities, including detailed plans with clearly explained teacher input and a choice of learning activities for children, slides, differentiated worksheets, and other printable resources.

A Knowledge Organiser is available to support the learning in this scheme. It is included in the Complete Series download or can be purchased individually.

 
Lesson 1

School Leaders

In this lesson, children will consider a number of questions about leaders in their school before going on to think about times when they have been leaders themselves.

The colourful slides include a number of questions to prompt in-depth discussion, and the included worksheets challenge children to find out about a range of different leaders in their school.

Responsibilities

What makes a good leader? Challenge your children to consider this and many more questions about the role of leaders and their responsibilities.

The slides explain the responsibilities of some leaders children are likely to have encountered in their local area. Children are challenged to consider why leaders should carry out certain responsibilities, even if they are very difficult.

Children are also encouraged to reflect on 'Ways of Knowing' about religion and worldviews, and to think deeply about the topic through the 'Thinking Questions' provided.
